Look at the replacements. Healthy old trees give way to uniform stock. Numbered caps appear beside the trunks. The public dashboard reports irrigation while the contractor receives patterns of gathering and movement. A route repeated every morning can lead back to a doorway without the system collecting one photograph of a face.

The parks department can honestly say it operates no cameras. The procurement file can honestly say irrigation. The useful feed sits between those definitions, where a person looking for a surveillance contract will search the wrong category. The first customer does not need your name. The repeated path will supply it later.

The contractor and second feed were fabricated

The Understory Mapping Group and its street-tracking network were invented here. Irrigation sensors do exist. Their presence does not tell us they measure vibration, connect roots into microphones, or identify pedestrians. Those are separate capabilities requiring evidence.

Detecting a vibration is not recognizing a person

A sensor can register ground movement without separating footsteps from vehicles, weather, construction, and other people. Identifying a walker requires suitable signal quality, processing, and validation. The story skipped those steps and treated a physical possibility as a working identification service.

Privacy scrutiny can be specific

A useful inquiry asks for sensor models, collected fields, retention periods, contracts, and access rules. Those records can expose an actual privacy problem. Looking at tree placement alone cannot distinguish irrigation from the much larger system alleged here.

The inside account was part of the construction

The maintenance note and sales deck were invented. “Event” is a broad word, not proof that a sensor detects gatherings. To infer pedestrian tracking, the actual instrument and its output would need to demonstrate that capability.
