The real effect already has a name

Temperature differences can produce electricity in suitable materials. That is the thermoelectric effect. The energy comes from heat flowing from warmer material to cooler material, not from a shadow having weight or a hidden supply of power. When the temperatures even out, that source of usable energy runs down.

A meter is not a test of every possible power source

A household electricity meter measures electrical energy passing through its circuit. It does not separately report sunlight, hot tiles, or wind either. To test the device, measure its electrical output and all energy entering it. A missing menu option on a meter tells us nothing about suppression.
